Kate Beckinsale scrubs social media after eviscerating body-shaming comments
Kate Beckinsale scrubbed her social media — but not before blasting “broken” Instagram trolls criticizing her appearance.
“As I’m sure you’re aware, anytime I post a photo of myself, I receive an enormous amount of comments telling me how disgusting I look and I’m anorexic or I’m on meth or that I’ve lost so much weight,” the actress told her followers in a since-deleted post Monday, as reported by multiple outlets.
The 53-year-old posted a screenshot of the remarks in question, including, “Loosen up the [Ozempic]!! You were divine and now you look anorexic!”
“First off, I’ve lost my entire family, except my precious daughter, in a short amount of time,” she continued, referencing the back-to-back deaths of her mom and stepdad.
“The second thing is, I have a condition, which is an autoimmune condition called mast cell activation syndrome, and there’s another one called mast cell disease, and there’s mastocytosis,” Beckinsale continued. “This is something that I was diagnosed with 16 years ago.
“I was really, really lucky that I had an amazing GP in London who called it and sent me to, at that point, the one guy in the world in New Jersey who was the expert in that,” she noted, explaining that her stomach is “ground zero” for her health struggles.
When one fan begged her to “eat please,” the “Pearl Harbor” star replied, “Having just made a several slides post about how eating could actually kill me this is a little beyond.”
She urged social media users to remember they don’t “know what’s going on in people’s lives” — and it’s “not necessary for everyone to know your opinion on what somebody else’s body looks like.”
Beckinsale concluded, “Treat people just how you’d like to be treated yourself, give people a little grace. If you don’t have anything nice to say, maybe don’t say anything.
“You don’t want to be the last straw for somebody, you don’t want to be the thing that makes them more sick, just keep going, it’s not hard.”
While Beckinsale promised a hater who “liked it better when [she] didn’t speak” that she would “delete everything except for the books [she] recommend[s],” her account has been completely wiped.
The “Total Recall” star’s profile picture is a graphic reading, “‘Honey, what do you want to be when you grow up?’ ‘A threat to the new world order.’”
Beckinsale previously clapped back at those convinced she has “lost too much weight” last year, calling this “a passive aggressive completely unnecessary opinion.”
In January 2025, she wrote, “Next time you feel like commenting on someone’s body, I suggest you keep it to your f–king self.”
Beckinsale broke down in tears that December while describing her slimdown as a “physical manifestation of grief” as she battles “survivor guilt.”
The “Widow” alum railed against the “cruel piece of s–t” commentary and explained, “It’s like my body has closed down. I think it’s shock and trauma.”
