Matt Damon calls Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ the ‘hardest movie I’ve ever made’
Matt Damon says his upcoming epic, “The Odyssey,” was the “hardest movie” he’s ever made.
But at least “The Rip” star got some pet therapy while talking about the experience at the famed Eastwood Ranch Foundation’s Animal Rescue and Adoption Facility in LA this week.
Damon, who’s on the cover of the new GQ promoting “The Odyssey,” also did an interview about his upcoming Christopher Nolan movie with a perhaps less obvious outlet, animal advocacy site The Dodo.
The animal-loving star, who has five pets at home, appears in a Dodo Instagram clip at the Eastwood Ranch to support its California Adopt-A-Pet Day event on June 6.
The Oscar winner, 55, is first seen holding Jojo, an adorably scruffy terrier mix puppy who’s straight out of central casting for a “Benji” reboot. (Seriously, Jojo could be snapped up by a CAA canine division, if such a thing existed.)
Damon also plays with a fluffy blind and deaf mutt named Piper, who has a contraption around her head for protection.
While on the ground petting the cute pup, Damon says of working with “Oppenheimer” auteur Nolan on their latest project together: “It was by far the hardest movie I’ve ever made. Chris likes to shoot everything real. So there’s no kind of green screen, no faking it, no kind of studio stuff.”
Back to the rescue ranch, Damon explains to viewers he’s really there to visit Betsy, a pit bull who’s been waiting for a home for one and a half years after being rescued from an LA shelter.
While playing with Betsy, Damon puts a bandana on the pooch as man and beast bond.
He explains that the four-legged friend is his doggie “date” for the day because, “Betsy’s been here the longest… she really needs a family to take her in.” He also dubs her, “Betsy the little hippo.”
The Eastwood Ranch Foundation was founded by Alison Eastwood.
