Meghan Markle makes surprise TV appearance on ‘MasterChef Australia’ during faux-royal tour with Prince Harry
Meghan Markle had time for a brief TV cameo during her visit to Australia.
The Duchess of Sussex was announced to be making a special appearance as a guest judge for the upcoming Season 18 of “MasterChef Australia,” which is set to premiere on April 19.
The 44-year-old would be joining judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christopher Novelli in mentoring and guiding some of Australia’s home cooks.
Australia’s Channel 10 announced the exciting news via Instagram on Wednesday, featuring a clip of Yeow introducing Markle to the show.
“We’ve had ‘MasterChef’ royalty in the kitchen before, but no one like this,” she told the contestants, who clapped and cheered as the former actress made her entrance.
The Instagram account captioned the post, “Passionate foodie Meghan Markle is joining MasterChef Australia as a guest judge!”
The official “MasterChef Australia” Instagram account also shared the news, captioning a photo of Markle with the judges, “We’re welcoming someone SUPER special into the MasterChef Kitchen 🙌.
“Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, makes a special guest appearance this season as she returns to Australia for the first time since 2018 ❤️ Joining a star-studded lineup of Guest Judges and culinary icons, Meghan helps guide some of the most impressive home cooks the competition has ever seen,” the post continued.
“This is the series of MasterChef you don’t want to miss 👀”
For her return to TV, Markle supported Australian designers by wearing a skirt by Camila and Marc paired with a Matteau blouse. She completed her look with Manolo Blahnik heels.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry, 41, met veterans at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
The couple’s faux-royal tour through Australia kicked off Tuesday as they made an appearance at the Royal Children’s Hospital, the same hospital Harry’s mom, Princess Diana, visited more than 40 years ago.
Markle also made a solo trip to the Homeless Services for Women Centre, where she served food to those present.
Throughout their visit, Markle will also hold meetings about launching her lifestyle brand, As Ever — with a source confirming they are not expected to meet any government officials.
