Rebecca Gayheart marks first Father’s Day since Eric Dane’s death with emotional post
Eric Dane’s widow, Rebecca Gayheart, marked the first Father’s Day since the actor died with an emotional post about their two daughters.
“I hurt for my girls today,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories above the photos of the “Euphoria” star with their daughters, Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14.
“It’s a ‘first’ of many to come. I know Eric is looking out for them every day. ❤️🩹,” the “Jawbreaker” actress, 54, added.
Billie also honored her late father on social media, sharing throwback photos of them when she was younger.
“Happy fathers dad dada, not one date goes by where I don’t miss you,” the teen wrote. “I love you so much more than words could ever describe.”
Dane passed away on Feb. 19, less than one year after he announced his Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis. He was 53.
The “Grey’s Anatomy” actor died of respiratory failure, per his death certificate obtained by People in March.
Additionally, his underlying cause of death was a result of ALS, a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, per Mayo Clinic.
Dane and Gayheart tied the knot in a surprise ceremony in Las Vegas in 2004.
They welcomed daughters Billie and Georgia in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
The “Scream 2” actress filed for divorce from Dane in February 2018 after 14 years of marriage, but withdrew the petition last November due to the actor’s health issues.
After the death of the “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” star, Gayheart broke her silence, thanking everyone for supporting her and her kids through this “difficult” time.
Four months after Dane’s passing, his youngest daughter, Georgia, graduated from middle school.
“Congratulations Georgia !!! You have graduated middle school and survived an incredibly difficult year,” the actress wrote on Instagram in June.
“I am so beyond proud of you — your tenacity, grit and grace has been on full display,” Gayheart continued.
“Welcome to high school— I have no doubt you’re ready . I am so excited for you ! Not pictured is your MVP trophy for beach volleyball. Bravo , congratulations and I love you so much ♥️.”
