Robbie Williams responds to cocaine accusations after viral World Cup Final video

Robbie Williams clarified that the white substance that fell from his face at the 2026 World Cup Final was a mint, and not cocaine.

The British singer, 52, addressed a viral video of a live interview he did at the World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina Sunday, in which a white substance appeared to fall from his face and onto his mic. Williams didn’t miss a beat, picking up the white object off the mic and continuing the interview.

The “Angels” singer took to Instagram Monday and shared a cheeky video explaining that the white object was a mint.

“I’d just like to apologize for the object that fell onto the microphone yesterday, it was deeply unprofessional,” he said, lying in bed shirtless.

“And people worried about me, but, it’s OK because I had several more,” he continued before laughing and sticking out his tongue to reveal two mints.

Williams captioned the video, “Just woke up and feeling…. Mint 😀 x.”

The pop star went viral Sunday for the incident, with some on X accusing him of using cocaine. Although he took the mint off his mic, it ended up going on his forehead after he scratched his head with the same hand.

“When a lump of coke falls off my face, I always stick it to my forehead too, so I don’t forget it later and can consume it again afterward,” one comment reads.

The former Take That member has openly struggled with alcoholism and substance abuse in the past. He’s been to rehab multiple times, the latest being in 2007 to receive treatment for his addiction to prescription drugs.

“I went to some very, very dark places,” he reflected in his 2017 book, “Reveal.” The ability to care is taken away in the addiction.”

“That’s why so many people die from addiction.”

The father of four performed at the World Cup Final ahead of the game, singing the FIFA World Cup anthem, “Desire,” with Nicole Scherzinger and Italian pop star Laura Pausini. A-list celebs in the audience included Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Timothée Chalemet, Kylie Jenner, and more.

Spain ended up victorious over Argentina to win the tournament, winning the game with a score of 1-0.
