Tragic new details revealed in Jackson Browne’s son Ethan’s death
Medical personnel discovered a tragic scene when they found Jackson Browne’s son Ethan dead in his apartment.
When paramedics arrived, they discovered Ethan holding a straw and lighter in his hand with several narcotics, drug paraphernalia and medications littered throughout his bedroom, according to the medical examiner’s report obtained by Us Weekly.
“A glass pipe with crystalline substance and brown residue along with a burnt piece of aluminum foil were found on the nightstand” next to his body. Vaping devices, “whip-it” cartridges and “multiple prescription medications” were also found at the scene, per the report.
The report also noted that the medical personnel discovered a box on Ethan’s bed “which contained apparent illicit drugs and paraphernalia.” They declared him dead at the scene.
Ethan was found unresponsive in his bedroom by his roommate on Nov. 25, 2025, at approximately 8:24 a.m., according to the report.
His roommate recounted his last moments with Ethan, revealing he “seemed off” and was “possibly under the influence of drugs” at around 8 p.m. the night before his death.
Ethan was last known to be alive at 10:30 p.m. when he went to bed.
As Page Six previously reported in January, the Los Angeles ME confirmed that Ethan died on Nov. 25, 2025, from the “effects of fentanyl, methamphetamine and lidocaine.” He was 52.
The same day of Ethan’s death, his father, Jackson, announced the heartbreaking news in a Facebook post, sharing that his son had been found “unresponsive in his home.”
“It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of November 25, 2025, Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away,” Jackson’s statement read.
“We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time. No further details are available at this moment.”
The famed singer-songwriter welcomed Ethan with Phyllis Major in 1973. The pair tied the knot in 1975.
Jackson’s marriage to Major ended in 1976 when she tragically died by suicide at age 30.
In 2021, Jackson reflected on Major’s death in an interview with Route Magazine, saying his son became his “main focus” afterward.
Ethan grew up to make a career for himself as an actor and model.
He went on to star alongside Angelina Jolie in 1995’s “Hackers.” In 2004, he starred in the film “Raising Helen” with Kate Hudson.
