Vanessa Trump marks major milestone with daughter Kai amid cancer battle
Vanessa Trump helped daughter Kai shop for her new college apartment amid her cancer battle.
“I am totally exhausted from going to her apartment and coming back and forth and moving everything,” Vanessa said while the pair were at Target in Kai’s Instagram video shared on Sunday.
Kai, who just started her freshman year at the University of Miami, explained that her mom “drove to Miami for no reason yesterday” because the 19-year-old “messed up the furniture delivery.”
“It’s OK. It was during rush hour too, so it was fun times,” Vanessa, 48, sarcastically said, adding, “What we do for our children, right?”
Vanessa listed everything Kai needed from Target, including cleaning supplies, because the teen, according to her mom, will “be cleaning her own apartment.”
“No, I’m calling her down. ‘Hey mom, my bathroom is dirty,’” Kai joked, as Vanessa replied, “She is going to learn how to do that, or else it’ll just stay a mess.”
Kai captioned the video, “Back-to-school shopping with Mom! We spent HOURS shopping for everything I could possibly need for my apartment and getting ready for this new chapter of college life!”
She added, “So thankful my mom was there to do it all with me. She truly is the BEST mom, and I’m so grateful for her.”
Kai committed to the University of Miami to play golf in August 2024.
“I am super excited to be a Cane and represent the University of Miami,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “Gooo Canes!”
Kai is the eldest of Vanessa and Donald Trump Jr.’s five children. The former couple, who also share Donald III, 17, Tristan, 14, Spencer, 13, and Chloe, 12, got divorced in 2018.
Meanwhile, Vanessa announced she was diagnosed with breast cancer via a lengthy Instagram post in May.
“While this isn’t the news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” she wrote at the time. “I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me.”
A month later, she gave an update on her cancer battle, confirming she was recovering from surgery and “healing and moving forward.”
“Soon, I’ll be starting the second stage of my treatment,” the former model added.
By July, Kai told Page Six at the 2026 ESPY Awards that her mom was “doing good” amidst her health battle.
Page Six also exclusively reported that Tiger Woods, whom Vanessa started dating in early 2025, has been “staying focused” on being her rock after his rehab stint.
“He’s proud of how positive she’s stayed and how she’s handling everything so far,” our insider shared in May. “She’s been so strong and he truly believes she’s going to be OK. He’s just trying to support her however he can right now.”
