‘GMA’ correspondent Will Reeve, Christopher Reeve’s son, reveals testicular cancer diagnosis

Christopher Reeve’s son, Will Reeve, revealed his testicular cancer diagnosis on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old assured “Good Morning America” viewers “right off the top” that he is “OK” and battled the disease over the summer.

“The diagnosis was a shock and the treatments were a slog,” he noted. “Today, though, I am relieved to announce that we arrived at our destination and this cancer is in the rearview mirror. But what a journey.”

Will explained that four months after his January wedding to Amanda Dubin, he found “a hard, tender lump in [his] left testicle.”

He went in for an ultrasound “at Amanda’s urging, I went for an ultrasound,” and “the images confirmed the unimaginable” — he “had a mass that had to come out.”

Will underwent a orchiectomy in May to have the testicle removed, but what he thought was a “momentary frightening detour” escalated when he was diagnosed with embryonal carcinoma, an aggressive form of testicular cancer.

As a result, Will underwent another surgery to have dozens of lymph nodes removed from his abdomen to prevent the cancer from spreading.

He went under the knife at Memorial Sloan Kettering, the same building where his mom, Dana Reeve, lost her battle to lung cancer in 2006 at 44 years old, two years after her husband’s passing at 52.

Will made the “necessary choice” to undergo chemotherapy to slash his chances of a cancer recurrence, with his symptoms including ringing ears, night sweats, blood clots, constant headaches and bone pain.

He did not, however, lose his hair to the treatment thanks to a cold-capping method.

Will, who raved about getting “clean scans” on Sept. 8., shared more details in a People interview, saying that while he is “going to be fine,” this was “one heck of a chapter” in his life.
