Josh Hartnett hospitalized following car crash in Canada
Josh Hartnett was hospitalized in Canada after a car accident with a Canadian patrol car last week.
The 47-year-old actor was on his way home after filming an untitled Netflix series when a car he was riding in collided with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol vehicle, a source told the CBC.
According to an RNC press release published on Sept. 25, two vehicles collided at an intersection shortly after 1 a.m., causing significant damage to both vehicles.
The 59-year-old male driver and the 47-year-old male passenger of the SUV, which the CBC reports is Hartnett, were sent to hospital for minor injuries. The male officer also went to hospital as a precaution.
The case is currently under investigation.
A rep for Hartnett tells Page Six the actor has since been released from the hospital and is back at work.
Hartnett started production on his upcoming Netflix limited series in August, according to the streamer. The show takes place in Newfoundland, and revolves around a small Canadian town that becomes the target of a mysterious sea creature. Hartnett’s character is a fisherman who fight back.
The series also stars Willow Kean, Ruby Stokes, Rohan Campbell, and Kaleb Horn.
As of yet, there is no release date for the series.
Hartnett lives in the UK with his wife, Tasmin Egerton, and their four children. The private actor gave rare comments about his family life during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in May.
“My kids love to give me crap about being an American because I’m the only American in our house,” Hartnett said. “I’m a foreigner in my own home.”
“My middle one does a really good impersonation of me, [and] will just kind of turn to me and be like, ‘I’m Daddy, and I like pizza and I won’t mow the lawn.’ As American as it gets,’” he continued to joke.
Back in 2021, the “Oppenheimer” actor talked about taking a break from Hollywood after starring in major blockbusters like “Pearl Harbor.” Hartnett told Australian morning show “Sunrise” that keeping “Hollywood at bay” was the “best thing” for his mental health.
“It’s about creating a good home life and being able to do things that are wild and wonderful like making films, which is such a privilege,” he said.
These days, Hartnett is back in demand.
In March he was spotted filming “Verity” in New York City alongside fellow A-lister Dakota Johnson.
