NBA Star Tyrese Haliburton and Jade Jones Get Married 1 Month After Bachelorette Party Death
Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton and Jade Jones are officially married, just over a month after one of Jones’ friends died during her bachelorette party trip in St. Barts.
“it’s (courthouse) official 🍾💍,” Jones, 28, posted via Instagram on Tuesday, July 21. The couple shared a carousel of photos from the big day, which was attended by a small group of friends and family.
Jones opted for a short, white dress and white heels, finishing off her look with a bouquet of white flowers. Haliburton, 26, kept things simple in a black t-shirt and black pants.
“Yayyyy one step closer 🤍,” commented Jordyn Woods, who is engaged to New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns.
The courthouse ceremony comes weeks after the death of Jones’ friend Makenzi Kern in St. Barts on June 8. She was 26.
Kern died of “health complications” on the vacation, according to her obituary. No cause of death has been publicly released.
Jones and Kern met as cheerleaders at Iowa State University, where Haliburton was also a star basketball player.
“Kenzi was the funniest, goofiest person I’ve ever met,” Jones wrote via Instagram on June 17. “She was always making me belly laugh. She had such a gift of bringing happiness to every room she was in. Some of my favorite memories with Kenzi are the simple ones — spending a summer living in her city, leaving our mark on the capital district, running around our cars at stop lights, cheering on the bandshell together, obsessing over The Office, dancing on countertops to Hannah Montana, and watching her light up anytime she got to be on a boat.”
Jones continued, “She loved and supported Tyrese and me through every chapter. She was our biggest cheerleader and showed up for me in every big moment in my life. I can’t even imagine our wedding day without her there celebrating with us. The day will not be the same without her, but I know she will show us she is there somehow. She has been there for all of our moments since the day I met Tyrese. But Kenz will forever live on in my memories, my laughter, my stories, and in the person I am because of her. I will never stop laughing about all our memories together.”
Haliburton also spoke out on June 17 following Kern’s sudden death.
“We will always love and miss you Kenz,” the NBA star wrote via his Instagram Story. “Forever thankful for you.”
